Cornwall Pension Fund chooses Man for hedge fund strategy

first_imgThe £1.5bn (€1.6bn) Cornwall Pension Fund has appointed Man FRM, a hedge fund, to manage a £120m allocation following an investment review. The local authority scheme is set to increase its allocation to hedge funds dramatically after it decided to place more focus on alternative asset classes.Prior to announcing the mandate, the fund had a 1.4% allocation to a fund of funds strategy operated by Permal, but it will now allocate directly to Man.As part of the scheme’s continued investment strategy overhaul, selecting a hedge fund manager was first priority alongside searching for additional opportunities in illiquid assets such as infrastructure, where it also allocated 1.4%. Following on from the strategy review, the fund decided to increase its hedge fund allocation to 8% and appointed UK advisory firm JLT Employee Benefits to run a full open-market procurement exercise.Investment manager at Cornwall Pension Fund, Matthew Trebilcock, said accessing the asset class via Man provided more transparency for the fund.“This feature is not always available through the traditional fund of funds offering and was a major consideration for us,” he said. Cornwall will invest in Man’s solution designed for Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS), providing additional transparency and legal control of assets, with a sliding fee structure depending on collective assets.“In addition, the sliding management fee structure provides a real collaboration opportunity for all LGPS funds in the hedge fund asset class,” Trebilcock added.Man Group president Luke Ellis said: “We fully acknowledge the current pressure the LGPS funds are under to achieve cost reductions, and we have embraced this by treating the LGPS as a single investor with regards to pricing but as quite different investors with regards to the eventual solution provided.”last_img read more

Timothy Team Community Helping Community

first_imgFacebook0Tweet0Pin0The Timothy Team is a local helps organization that sets up around 400 families a year for those who have suffered a catastrophic event. We go even further than that and actually mentor those folks until they are strong enough to make it on their own should they permit us to. We are all volunteered staffed, all private donation funded, and 100% of all that is donated goes right back into the community. We are tax deductible for donations, and we pick up. We are also referral only. We take referrals from over 60 local helps agencies and many of our churches. Timothy Team is a registered 501 ©3, and our EIN# is 208388746. We are also registered with the Wash. St. Combined Fund Drive, and our number there is 1479477.On Friday November 11th starting at 2:00pm we will be having a “fill the truck drive” and silent auction at the historic Black Lake Grange right next to the new Black Lake Fire Dept.. From 4:00pm to 6:00pm we will be having our awesome soup cook-off. It will be a suggested donation, and 5 men who have been bantering for years over who is the best cook will be put to the test. If nothing else, come by and vote for your favorite soup. The silent auction will close at 7:00pm.This fundraiser is very important to our community. About 2 years ago, the Union Gospel Mission and Barb and Friends quit doing furniture. Now there are a few other organizations that provide furnishings, but none to the scale that Timothy Team does. We make a huge impact on the health and welfare of our community, and now we need your help to keep going. Please attend our fundraiser and support those who support you. If you can’t make it to the fundraiser, we schedule for the pick-up of donations of furniture, other household items, food, and hygiene products every Saturday. Just call our hot line and follow the directions. If you would like to make a money donation, you can contact Leann Paul at (360)357-9311. Hope to see you soon!last_img read more
