DONEGAL STARS VISIT RED HUGHS GAA CÚL CAMPS – PIC SPECIAL

first_imgRed Hughs GAA News:Senior Men The Seniors and reserves were both in championship action over the weekend. The reserves played Mc Cumhaills in Ballybofey on Friday evening. It was a very close affair from the start to finish with both teams playing some nice football. It was all square at the break four points apiece. The home side started brightly  in the second half getting some early scores on the board. The Reds had to rally to keep in touch and mid way through the half they were all square once again. The lads found another gear and Jason Dullaghan unleashed a low hard shot to the Mc Cumhaills net after making a good run from deep in his own half. With only five minutes to go it looked like the Reds were going to hold on for victory. But the Mc Cumhaills lads had other ideas and fought to the end. A late late goal in fact in was in the 9th minute of injury time!! when the crushing blow came. The final score was Red Hughs 1-7  Mc Cumhaills 1-10   Both teams still qualify for the quarter finals date and opponents T.B.C.The senior lads travelled to Muff on Sunday to play their second game of their championship campaign. The Reds played with a strong breeze in the first half and rushed into a three point lead. The home side then scored three unanswered points of their own to tie up the game. It was the Muff lads who finished the half strong and fortuitous goal seen them go in three up at half time. The home side came out strong in the second half and took the game to the Reds. The back line stood up to immense pressure for long periods of play. The home side failed to take their chances and never got too far ahead. The Red Hughs lads fought to the end and pushed hard in the final ten minutes and almost got rewarded with a goal in a last minute goal mouth scramble. But unfortunately the time ran out and the Muff lads held on for a 2 point victory.The seniors now play Letterkenny Gaels on Sunday in Letterkenny in the final game of the group stage. Throw in 3pmUnder 21The under 21 championship game v Killybegs is fixed for next Tuesday the 11th in Killybegs with a 7pm Throw in.Under 12 BlitzRed Hughs hosted the Group D Section off the u12 girls blitz on Saturday.Unfortunately Buncrana and Dungloe didnt travel.Well done to Red Hughs u12 girls team who won the U12 Group D trophy.They played Milford in the  first game playing very well some great defencing and scoring from the girls. Winning the game 2-1 to 2 pts.They played Killybegs in the second game.Killybegs got off to a flyer with three pts in a row. The girls kept battling away with a few pts and got a great point from s tight angle by Ciara Gallagher. The girls were a goal down at half time but got off to a great start in the second half with a goal by Aimee Lafferty to put the girls back into the game. The young girls played some great football and There were some outstanding individual performances on the night. The girls are going from strength to strength and improving all the time. The final score was Red Hughs 4-19 Lifford 5 – 01They now play Convoy at home this Tuesday at 6pm Good luck girlsUnder 14 Boys The lads played Buncranna last Friday evening in Buncranna. The boys put in a great team performance and are getting stronger every game. It was a great game of football and both teams gave it their all. The young Red Hughs lads were unlucky to beat beaten by a solitary point but can take great confidence from this display and carry it into their quarter final game in the coming week. Opponents and date T.B.C.Under 16 BoysThe lads had two very impressive victories over the last week. The first was a home victory over a very strong and physical Cloghaneely side. The boys worked hard as team and got rewarded with a great victory the final score was Red Hughs 2-12 Cloghaneely 0-14They then played Lifford again at home on Monday evening. This was a much easier win for the lads who never looked like they would lose this one. They put in a great performance to win on a scorline of Red Hughs 3-9 Lifford 0-3The lads now play Convoy next Monday in convoy in their last game of the group stage. Having already qualified for the quarter finals The winners of this encounter will finish top of the group and get the advantage of a home tie.Minor Boys The lads are fixed to play Buncranna on Friday evening at home in the quarter final of the championship with a 7pm throw in.Club CampRed Hughs Gaa Summer Camp will be on the 4th/5th/6th of August from 10am-1pm. The children are asked to take a packed lunch.The club will be running a tuck shop. Anyone willing to help out get in touch.The cost of the camp is 5 euro per child and no more then 10 euro for a family.
